ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jerry Morang
I was born and raised in Central Montana as a 4th generation Montana artist. My work represents a lifetime of interaction with the natural aspects of Montana and Alaska, and over 20 years experience in working with metal. My undergraduate and graduate degrees were completed at Montana State University.
"About my Work"
The bulk of my work consists of functional metal artwork such as furniture and furniture accessories, however, I do have a significant number of requests for items that are used exclusively for aesthetic value. All of the articles produced in my studio are designed, developed, and produced by myself.
All images for all functions are cut with a hand held plasma arc torch and all necessary accompaniments are fabricated and welded in my studio in Clyde Park, Montana. Approximately 70% of my work is custom in nature. That is to say that I design and produce articles specific to a client's needs and dimensions as well as an image or images to fit their specific desires. Aside from furniture and furniture accessories, my latest efforts have predominately been applied to the design and production of large chandeliers, entry gate images and imaged balcony railings.
"About my Exhibits"
During the past five years I have participated in four to five exhibits per year. These showings have ranged from furniture expositions to art in the park type productions in the states of Montana, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and California. I work with retail outlets and galleries in ten states. My national advertising has included American Cowboy, Log Home Living, Log Home Design, and a variety of specialized periodicals. I have had editorial features in Log Home Living, and Log Home Design. I am currently developing ads in the Big Sky Journal and the Internet.
"About my Goals"
My long range business goals do not include an expansion of my business, but a focus on larger, more detailed custom work. My work is shifting, for example, from producing repetitive functional art work for entities such as condominium projects to providing for the individualized furniture and aesthetic needs of a lodge, resort, or quality home.
I will continue to exhibit my work at art shows and design conferences and to do some limited advertising with a thrust toward the goals summarized above.
I sincerely thank you for taking the time to visit my website. Please feel free to contact me personally with any questions or comments.
